Runway, an AI research company, has recently unveiled the second iteration of its Motion Brush tool, aimed at enhancing the animation capabilities of AI-generated images. This innovative tool enables users to infuse movement into static images, bringing them to life with effects such as vehicles navigating dirt roads, dynamic nature scenes, and animated figures and animals.
To utilize the Motion Brush tool, users upload an image to the platform, select “Start with Image,” and then opt for the Motion Brush tool. They can then draw a focus area on the image that they wish to animate. Alternatively, users can generate an image within Runway using a text prompt before applying the Motion Brush. The tool provides controls for horizontal, vertical, and proximity, and users can extend the duration of the generated video up to 16 seconds.
The Motion Brush tool offers a myriad of creative possibilities, allowing users to combine it with Camera Controls to specify areas of the image that move while the camera simultaneously pans or zooms. Additional features include Gen-2 Style Presets for adding style to content without requiring prompts, and updates to Director Mode for fine-tuning camera movements.
Runway provides various pricing tiers, including basic, standard, pro, unlimited, and enterprise, each offering different capabilities and limits. Currently in beta, the Motion Brush tool is accessible to all Runway members.
In addition to the Motion Brush update, Runway has introduced new Gen-2 Style Presets and enhanced Camera Controls, as highlighted on the company’s social media profile. Registration with Runway is free, and users can sign up using Google or Apple credentials. A Single Use Sign-on is also available, specifically tailored for the Enterprise tier.
